Most cat owners have embarked on the desperate search for the perfect cat litter with little success. It's not unusual to find cat owners who have tried all brands such as Tidy Cat, Johnny Cat, and Fresh Step cat litter. Before the advent of commercial cat litter, many people created their own cat litter with baking soda and sand. Today, some are giving up and returning to homemade cat litter in frustration, only to worry about the danger of cats possibly ingesting baking soda.
Cat owners have tried everything from clay to crystals. There always seemed to be something wrong with each type of litter. Some produce way too much dust such as clay, which is especially bad for asthma sufferers and those with allergies. Crystals hurt when humans step on litter that's been tracked outside of the litter box. The only constant with cat litter seems to be the cat pee smell in the house.
The makers of World's Best Cat Litter and Swheat Scoop entered the fray to help struggling cat owners find cat litter that works. Both of these products are natural clumping litter products. Both are nearly dust free and excellent for asthma and allergy sufferers. These two products also tend to last a lot longer than clay litter. The best part is that both of these products actually work.
About World's Best Cat Litter
World's Best Cat Litter is made out of whole kernel corn. Strangely enough, corn lasts longer, and clumps better than most conventional litter. Unlike most conventional cat litter, World's Best Cat Litter is safe to flush, which makes litter box maintenance easier. A little bit of corn gets tracked out of the box, but the amount is minimal.
As far as odor control, some people have bad experiences if the cat does not bury her poop adequately. After a while, World's Best Cat Litter can smell like bad vomit if the poop is not removed or buried. If the cat buries everything well, there are no odor problems. The product works fine with odor control from urine and its ammonia byproduct. Depending on the number of cats and amount of litter box maintenance, a cat owner could use the same bag of World's Best Cat Litter for three or four weeks.
About Swheat Scoop Cat Litter
Swheat Scoop is easy on the hands and paws. There are no rough edges like with crystal. It is not prone to be tracked out of the litter box by the cats. The clumping works well only if there is a minimum depth of 3 inches worth of Swheat Scoop. Swheat Scoop is pretty expensive, so it's not surprising owners try to skimp but that is a bad idea. If there isn't enough litter, the clumps break apart and stick to the bottom of the litter box. Just like with World's Best Cat Litter, this product is also flushable.
Swheat Scoop has a very light wheat smell, which is almost odorless. Just like with World's Best Cat Litter, odor control depends on whether the cat buries her poop and how regularly the litter box is maintained. It can smell like poop or vomit if the cats don't bury it, or if the litter box is not maintained regularly. Under ideal circumstances, the cat owner can stay with the same bag of Swheat Scoop for three or four weeks.
Disadvantages of Swheat Scoop and World's Best Cat Litter
Natural cat litter is much more expensive than conventional cat litter. For example, a 40 pound bag of Swheat Scoop costs $29. However, much of the cost increase can be mitigated by the extra length of time before needing to change the cat litter.
But the worst disadvantage is that both of these cat litter products are edible. Some bugs see organic cat litter as food. Pantry moths regard World's Best Cat Litter as the world's best food. Wheat weevils are attracted to Swheat Scoop. With both of these products, it's important to inspect the bags to make sure the product is free of bugs. Put some bay leaves in the bag of litter and the litter box to prevent an infestation. Use any extra bay leaves to protect herbs, grains, and other food products in the kitchen pantry.
If these bugs get into the house, they will do everything in their power to stay in the house. Inspect every bag of litter and always use bay leaves.
Despite these disadvantages, both of these products work well to function as cat litter like the way it's supposed to. Natural cat litter is great for the environment, both the inside home environment as well as outdoors.
Warning - It's illegal to flush cat litter in some parts of California, even if the cat litter is safe for septic systems.
